BHW has been ranked Band 1 for its merger and acquisition work in the SME/owner-managed sector of the latest Chambers and Partners rankings. The rankings see BHW named as the only East Midland’s firm to be awarded Band 1 status in the sector.

The release of the Chambers 2023 rankings also sees BHW corporate partner and department head, Ed Nurse, ranked as the only individual lawyer to receive a Band 1 standing in the East Midlands for the same sector.

One researcher commented “BHW Solicitors leads the way in terms of commercial awareness and knowledge, they understand the inner workings of corporate M&A transactions.”

Corporate partner, Stephen McElhone, was also ranked Band 2, while fellow corporate partner, Alex Clifton, was awarded the accolade of Up and Coming.

BHW’s commercial property department was ranked Band 3 for its Real Estate work, as well as commercial property partner and department head, Beverly Merrell, also receiving Band 3 status.

The department’s work advising on the £5 million acquisition of a flag ship restaurant in Leicester Square, London, through an associated company of Marco Pierre White’s restaurant group, Black and White Hospitality, was highlighted.

Chambers and Partners rankings are based on over 30 years of data and analysis, with insights garnered through extensive interviews and surveys annually by more than 70 experienced researchers ranking the best law firms and solicitors working in the UK legal market.
