For the first time in over 10 years, HM Land Registry have announced they will be increasing their fees for certain documents and services. These fee increases will take affect from Monday 9 December 2024.
A summary of the main increases that will affect our clients can be found below:
Title documents (known as ‘OC1s and OC2s’) | From £3 to £7 per document |
Priority Searches (known as ‘OS1s and OS2s’) | From £3 to £7 per search |
Searches of the Index Map | From £4 to £8 per search |
Bankruptcy searches (known as ‘K16 applications’) | From £2 to £6 per search |
This will affect nearly all property transactions and will mean a higher cost of disbursements for people selling, buying, leasing and mortgaging property. If you are at the early stages of a new property transaction, then you should budget for this increase.
The Land Registry state that ‘the increase reflects the increased costs of running and improving HM Land Registry’s services, as well as plans to increase digitalisation and transformation of data.’
One area the Land Registry are not increasing their fees (at this stage) is the registration fees for registration services. These were increased back in January 2022, also for the first time in over 10 years, so property purchasers will be hopeful that these are not increased again so soon.
