BHW is delighted to announce another year of strong recognition in the Legal 500 rankings. The 2027 guide sees the firm maintain all of its departmental rankings, while achieving a series of significant individual promotions, including Ed Nurse’s elevation to the Legal 500 Hall of Fame.

The latest rankings see BHW retain its Tier 1 status for Corporate & Commercial and Commercial Property, alongside continued rankings for Commercial Litigation, Employment and IT & Telecoms, reaffirming the firm’s position as one of the leading commercial law firms in the East Midlands.

Individual recognition is a particular highlight of the 2027 guide, with promotions spanning BHW’s Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Property and Dispute Resolution teams.

Most notably, Ed Nurse, Managing Partner and Head of Corporate & Commercial, has been promoted to the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, recognising lawyers who are considered among the most respected and consistently outstanding practitioners in their field.

The firm also celebrates the promotion of Beverley Merrell, Head of Commercial Property, and Alex Clifton, Corporate & Commercial, to Leading Partner status, alongside Matt Worsnop, Corporate & Commercial, Paul Davis, Head of Dispute Resolution, and Stephen McElhone.

Farhaan Pathan, Dispute Resolution, Cameron Connolly, Corporate & Commercial, and Molly McLoughlin, Commercial Property, have all been recognised as Next Generation Partners.

In addition, Chelsey Wileman, Dispute Resolution, and William Sperry, Corporate & Commercial, have achieved their first Legal 500 rankings as Leading Associates.

Chairman, Nick Bridle said: “Ed’s promotion to the Hall of Fame is a tremendous and thoroughly deserved achievement. Over many years, he has made an exceptional contribution to our clients and the wider business, while playing a pivotal role in establishing BHW as one of the region’s leading commercial law firms. He is held in exceptionally high regard by clients, colleagues and peers, and we are incredibly proud to see him receive this recognition.”

Managing Partner, Ed Nurse, said: “I am extremely honoured to be recognised in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame. Although individual recognition is always appreciated, this achievement reflects the collective efforts of BHW’s talented and dedicated team.

I am immensely proud of all the achievements recognised across the firm this year and grateful for the support of our clients, professional contacts and colleagues for the trust they continue to place in BHW. Their support underpins our commitment to delivering high-quality legal advice and service every day.”

The Legal 500 rankings are regarded as one of the legal profession’s most respected independent directories, with rankings based on extensive research, client feedback and peer recommendations. The guide assesses law firms and lawyers across the UK, recognising those that demonstrate excellence in client service, technical expertise and market reputation.

The 2027 rankings mark another important milestone in BHW’s growth, reflecting the firm’s continued investment in its people and its commitment to maintaining the high standards of service that clients have come to expect.
