East Midland's leading specialist commercial law firm BHW Commercial Solicitors is targeting significant growth in its employment law business, spearheaded by its new head of employment Laura Alanson who arrives from the National Farmers’ Union (NFU).

Laura’s arrival is a major coup for BHW – at the NFU she managed a team of 13 people delivering employment and other legal advice for the NFU’s 55,000 members. Laura will lead a growing team of employment law experts at BHW’s offices at Grove Park near Leicester.

The team is expanding, with an extra six posts planned for over the next 24 months, said managing director Nick Bridle: “We will be building a substantial team around Laura.”

Nick said: “Laura was responsible for developing and delivering the NFU’s employment law services.

“Having developed these services for NFU members, Laura is uniquely qualified to do the same at BHW for a wider range of industry sectors.”

Laura, who lives in Market Harborough, said: “We provide an external HR function for businesses which don’t have a dedicated HR department or which need complementary HR support. Our services will also be tailored to particular sectors offering various levels of support and functionality.

“I very much enjoyed my ten years at the NFU but was ready for a new challenge and I am delighted to have found the ideal opportunity at BHW.

“This is a legal business with significant ambitions. I look forward to playing my part in fulfilling that great potential.”

Laura, a solicitor who holds a Master’s Degree in law, is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Agricultural Lawyers Association. She maintains her position on the board of management of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.
