BHW Solicitors is pleased to announce the expansion of its Dispute Resolution team with the appointment of Zara Abbas, a highly knowledgeable litigation solicitor. Zara’s recruitment follows the firm’s continued growth in demand for its commercial litigation services, and in particular contentious probate expertise.
Zara joins the team as an Associate Solicitor and brings a broad and well‑rounded litigation background. She trained and qualified in 2021, rising to Associate at a well‑regarded multi‑service firm, and holds a first‑class law degree from Nottingham Trent University. She advises a diverse range of clients on complex and often sensitive disputes involving wills, estates, inheritance claims, trusts, land and property disputes, alongside wider commercial disagreements.
The Dispute Resolution team is led by Legal 500 ‘Leading Partner’, Paul Davis, who is recognised as one of the go-to litigation solicitors in the East Midlands.
Commenting on the appointment, Paul Davis, said: “We are delighted to welcome Zara to BHW’s Dispute Resolution team. Her strong litigation background, technical capability, and commitment to client care align perfectly with our team’s values. Zara’s appointment further strengthens our position as one of the region’s leading firms for commercial disputes and contentious probate matters, and we look forward to the expertise she brings to support our continued growth.”
Zara has developed a strong track record acting for executors and beneficiaries in challenges to wills, including disputes over validity, claims based on promises or expectations (proprietary estoppel), and applications for financial provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. She also regularly advises on estate administration disputes, including claims between and against personal representatives.
In addition, Zara has considerable experience helping clients resolve disputes concerning jointly owned property. This includes advising on the impact and enforceability of Declarations of Trust, as well as supporting clients making, enforcing, or resisting court applications relating to the sale of property. Her wider experience across commercial and property litigation enables her to guide clients from the outset of a dispute through to resolution with a practical and commercially informed approach.
Zara said: “I’m excited to have joined BHW Solicitors at a time when the contentious probate market continues to evolve. The firm has an excellent reputation for delivering high‑quality, specialist advice, and I look forward to contributing to the team and supporting clients through what are often very sensitive and challenging disputes.”
