BHW Solicitors has promoted two property lawyers to partner level after the company's workload expanded.

Kate Chorley and Bev Merrell were appointed as partners after contributing "excellent growth" to the Leicester law firm's property work.

Chorley had more than 20 years' experience in commercial property and acts for large developers and investors, as well as for tenants and landlords and farming and corporate clients. She joined BHW from Cocks Lloyd in 2009.

Merrell started her career at BHW and was one of its first employees in 2004.

She has gone from being a paralegal to a trainee, qualified solicitor, associate and now partner. Her specialist areas include acting for tenants in non-contentious work.

BHW managing director Nick Bridle said: "It's a sign of how well the property team has done in very challenging times that we are rewarding Kate and Bev for their sterling contributions, as well as investing in positioning the team for further growth."
