The Chambers and Partners directory for 2017 has now been published, identifying the best lawyers and law firms in the UK. The directory generates its rankings using entirely independent research.

BHW Solicitors is ranked Band 1 for Corporate/M&A work in the SME and Private Company sector in the East Midlands (which includes Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Lincoln and Northampton). Ed Nurse, the Partner heading the department, has also been ranked as a Band 1 individual for his work in this sector. Ed’s team handles a full range of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructures and company and commercial matters and has sector specific specialisms including Aerospace, Crowd Funding /Secured Lending and Estate Agency M & A.

Adding to the success of the Corporate/M&A work in the SME and Private Company sector, BHW Solicitors has also been ranked Band 1 for Agriculture and Rural Affairs in Chambers 2017 directory. Kate Chorley, the Partner who heads the department, is also a Band 1 individual. BHW Solicitors is the only firm in the East Midlands to have achieved Band 1 ranking, or indeed any ranking, in this sector.

In the Real Estate category for the East Midlands there are only 11 ranked firms, with BHW Solicitors being one of them. There are a total of 26 individuals ranked for Real Estate work in the East Midlands and 2 of them are BHW Partners (Julie White and Bev Merrell).

Kate, Julie and Bev’s team also advise on all aspects of freehold and leasehold property for their business clients, and the partners have sector specific specialisms including Agriculture, Retail and Crowd Funding/Secured Lending.

For Information Technology there is one category covering the entirety of the Midlands. BHW Solicitors has been recognised as a noted firm, along with only 10 other firms recognised in this category. Matt Worsnop, Head of IT and Telecoms at BHW, is one of only 19 Leading Individuals recognised for his IT work.

Matt and his team advise on procurement and tendering protocols for IT projects, software development agreements, configuration and implementation agreements, as well as software licences, software maintenance agreements, hosting agreements and website terms of business and other e-commerce facilities.
